Give every account a purpose

Use names that match the work: Personal, Company, Client A, or a team name. A descriptive label works better than an email fragment when you need to make a quick choice from the menu.

Each account keeps its own plan, access, usage, and organization rules. Switching selects an account. It does not combine subscriptions, histories, files, or workspace policy.

Check before you start a task

Open the menu and confirm the check mark beside the account you want. Read the usage lines if they are available, then switch before you create a new task or return to a project.

This small check prevents the most common multi-account mistake: starting work under the wrong personal or company identity. The account label stays visible in the menu when you need to confirm it again.

Respect work account policy

A company-managed account may follow different retention, access, and administrator rules from a personal account. Select the company account for company work and follow the policy set by that organization.

OpenAI notes that account switching keeps workspaces and account data separate. Codex Switcher follows the same practical boundary: it selects local account access and does not merge account data.

Plan for expired access

An account can require sign-in again after a token expires or an administrator changes access. Re-authorize that account instead of deleting the others. A usage value can also appear as unknown while switching still works.

Keep the setup boring. Use clear labels, add only the accounts you need, and remove profiles you no longer use. The menu stays useful when every row has a current purpose.
