Manual login has no extra app

A manual flow keeps the tool list short. Sign out, sign in with the required account, and continue. This works well when you use one account or change accounts a few times a year.

The cost appears with repetition. You must choose credentials, complete sign-in, and confirm the result each time. Several accounts also make it easier to select the wrong identity.

A switcher prepares the choices

Codex Switcher asks you to add and name each account once. After setup, the profiles appear in the Mac menu bar. Select one and read the check mark before you return to Codex.

The menu can also show five-hour and seven-day usage when local Codex tools provide it. Manual login leaves that status in the controls provided by Codex.

A saved profile removes repeated sign-in steps, so keep the Mac account secure and remove profiles you no longer use. Re-authorize access when it expires.

Neither method merges accounts or transfers usage. Organization policy still follows the selected account, and OpenAI controls account access.

Test the workflow that fits

Choose manual login if account changes are rare and you do not need a status view. Choose a menu bar utility if you switch often and want the current account visible before each task.
